RCBank’s 2024 Vision Promises a Revolution in Banking Technology

In a press conference held on Friday, January 9th, 2023, at Rokel Commercial Bank’s Clock Tower Branch conference room in Eastern Police Freetown, the bank unveiled its ambitious Manifesto for the Year 2023 and offered a glimpse into its visionary roadmap for 2024.
Abdul Wahab, the country representative of AAA – SL chapter, opened the conference by announcing the prestigious accolade won by Dr. Walton Ekundayo Gilpin. Dr. Gilpin clinched the title of Banker of the Year at the Global Reputation Forum, held at the House of Lords Palace of Westminster Marriott Hotel Country Hall. This accolade, bestowed by Reputation Poll International United Kingdom, marked a significant milestone for Rokel Commercial Bank, elevating it to the status of African Banker of the Year 2023.
Wahab conveyed the heartfelt congratulations of Dr. Tony Rex Idaminabo, the principal partner of African Achieves Awards Reputation Poll International, emphasizing the global recognition of Rokel Commercial Bank’s achievements.
Dr. Ekundayo Gilpin, the Managing Director of Rokel Commercial Bank, expressed his gratitude for the international acknowledgment, citing the bank’s transformative work in altering the perception of both the bank and Sierra Leone on a global scale. He attributed this success to the bank’s core values of neatness, a dedicated staff, and a secure banking environment.
Looking ahead to 2024, Mr. Gilpin unveiled a groundbreaking initiative. On February 22, 2024, Rokel Commercial Bank will host a Symposium on Cybersecurity and Financial Inclusion in collaboration with EST Applied Intelligence (UK) at City Hall. The symposium aims to assemble industry leaders, political figures, experts, and innovators to explore the top priorities outlined by the African Banker of the Year 2023.
The five key focus areas include the importance of cybersecurity in financial services, customer data protection, cybersecurity as an enabler for financial innovations and inclusion, and the central bank’s cybersecurity and information technology risk and guidelines resilience.
Mr. Gilpin emphasized that enhancing the commercial banking sector through initiatives such as the cashless ecosystem, banking process automation, cybersecurity resilience, digital transformation, and artificial intelligence will position Rokel Commercial Bank to compete on an international scale. The symposium will serve as a platform for government agencies, educational institutions, banking and financial sector players, and international partners in the banking IT and cybersecurity sector to come together and contribute to the bank’s vision of a cashless and technologically advanced future.
