As a way of bolstering its chances in the 2028 election, the All People’s Congress (APC) has set its sights on the return of a key figure: Alhaji Chief Samuel Sam Sumana, former Vice President of Sierra Leone. Ibrahim Ben Kargbo, a senior stalwart within the APC, revealed this pivotal decision during a press briefing on Tuesday, April 16, 2024.

Kargbo emphasized the necessity of Sumana’s reinstatement, asserting that the party requires the leadership and strength exemplified by Sumana. He underscored the importance of Sumana’s full-fledged return to the APC, indicating that the party has formally communicated its intent to reinstate him to the National Advisory Committee, the highest decision-making body within the APC.

“We believe that the APC party needs strong people like Samuel Sam Sumana. If we want to win the 2028 election, we should utilize all the available human resources,” Honorable Kargbo noted.

According to Kargbo, Sumana’s acceptance of the reinstatement is crucial, particularly if the APC aims to secure victory in the 2028 election. He urged the party leadership to extend an olive branch to former members who had been expelled, emphasizing the need for unity and inclusivity within the party ranks.

In a call to action, Kargbo implored party members to refrain from assigning blame and instead focus on fostering an atmosphere of peace and unity. He also appealed to stakeholders within the APC to prioritize the overarching goal of unity, recognizing it as paramount for the party’s success in future endeavours.

As the APC lays the groundwork for the 2028 election, the reinstatement of Samuel Sam Sumana stands as a pivotal step toward solidifying the party’s prospects and reinvigorating its commitment to effective leadership and unity.
