IPad Theft: Conductor Sentenced to Two Years Imprisonment

Jesse Massaquoi, a conductor, made his first appearance before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Pademba Road Court No.2 in Freetown on a count of Larceny contrary to section 2 of the Larceny Act 1916.

According to the particulars of offence, on Monday, the 18th of March 2024, at Pedro Drive Kamayama Lumley, in the western area of Freetown, he stole one iPad tablet mobile phone valued at two thousand five hundred Leones (2,500), property of Mohamed Sesay.

When the charge was read and explained to the accused person, he pleaded guilty.

The prosecutor, Dpc 18235 Thoronka K.K, informed the bench that there were no available records against the accused person. The accused person, unrepresented by legal counsel, pleaded with the bench to temper justice with mercy.

Due to the plea mitigation by the accused person, Magistrate Bangura sentenced him to two years imprisonment in the male correctional facility in Freetown.

In another development, Komba Lebbie, a former Acer building contractor, made his first appearance before Magistrate Peter Brima Gogra of Pademba Road Court No.6 in Freetown on a count of malicious damage contrary to section 51 of the Malicious Damage Act 1861.

According to the particulars of offence, on the 1st of April 2024, at Tedor Beach bar and restaurant on Lumley Beach Road, Aberdeen, in the western area of Freetown, he maliciously damaged one glass door valued at eight hundred and sixty Leones (860), property of Royston Forster of No.18 Clerk Street, Willington.

When the charge was read and explained to the accused person, he pleaded guilty.

The accused person was unrepresented by legal counsel. The inspector, Mohamed Kamara, informed the bench that there were no available records against the accused person. The accused person pleaded with the bench to temper justice with mercy.

Due to the plea mitigation by the accused person, Magistrate Gogra sentenced him to three months imprisonment in the male correctional facility in Freetown.
