$45,000 Fraud: Accused Released on Bail

Gabriella S. Turay, residing at #1 Saint Paul’s Drive, IMATT, is currently on trial following a private criminal summons on a charge of fraudulent conversion, contrary to Section 20 (1) (4) (B) of the Larceny Act 1916. Turay has been released on bail by Principal Magistrate Kekura of Pademba Road Court No.1 for an alleged fraud involving $45,000.

According to the particulars of the offence, on April 24, 2022, at Youyi Building in Freetown, the accused allegedly fraudulently converted a white 2018 Lexus Jeep valued at $45,000. The vehicle, entrusted to him by the complainant, Michael Kamara, for the purpose of sale, was allegedly converted to Turay’s own use.

Upon the reading and explanation of the indictment, Turay pleaded not guilty. His counsel, Charles Abass Bangura, applied for bail on his behalf during his first court appearance, which was granted by Magistrate Kekura. Representing the complainant, Ibrahim S.Y. Kamara, Esq. requested a short adjournment.

Magistrate Kekura has adjourned the case to June 24, 2024, for further proceedings.
