Medical Doctor Drags Maids To Court

Juliana Kamara, Mabinty Kamara and Ramatu Kamara were on Tuesday 22nd July 2025 dragged to court by Melvina Thompson, a doctor attached at the Cannaught hospital, for allegedly stealing over ten thousand United States dollars in her house while working as maids.

They were arraigned before the Principal Magistrate of the Freetown Magistrate Court No.1 Magistrate Mustapha Briama Jah.

The accused are answering to two count charges of Conspiracy to commit a crime contrary to law and Larceny in dwelling house contrary to section 13 (a) of the Larceny Act 1916.

It was alledged that all three accused persons on a date unknown between August to October 2024 at Thompson Drive, Congo Cross  in Freetown, conspired together to commit a crime, to wit: Larceny in dwelling house

The police  further alleged that the accused persons on the same date and place entered the dwelling house of Doctor Melvina Thompson and stole ten thousand six hundred united States dollars($10,600), equivalent to two hundred and forty thousand and seventeen Leones (Nle240,017) Property of Melvina Thompson.

When the charges were read and explained to the accused persons, no plea was taken because of the amount of money alledgely involved.

The accused persons were represented by Defense Counsel Mohamed Yassin Conteh,  who made an application for bail on their behalf.

Magistrate Jah refused bail and sent the accused persons to the Female correctional facility in Freetown.

The matter was adjourned to the 23rd July 2025 for hearing.
