As Parliament Approves New Electoral Chief… EU Envoy Holds Frank Discussions With APC Leadership
European Union Ambassador, Jacek Jankowski, on Thursday hosted the leadership of the All People’s Congress at the EU Delegation in Freetown for what officials described as a frank exchange on Sierra Leone’s political developments.
Talks focused on the implementation of the Tripartite Committee recommendations, widely viewed as central to ongoing electoral and governance reforms.
The meeting coincided with a Parliamentary Session in which lawmakers approved Edmond Sylvester Alpha as Chief Electoral Commissioner of the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone. Alpha, who had been serving in an acting capacity, will now lead preparations for the country’s 2028 general elections.
The parallel developments highlight heightened political engagement in Freetown, as both domestic actors and international partners remain closely involved in Sierra Leone’s democratic process.
