New York City, USA –

Amb. Sheku Foryoh, Aspirant for APC Diaspora Young Congress Leader, joined distinguished African leaders, policymakers, diplomats, and young changemakers at the Africa Union House in New York City, where he shared the stage with former Anambra State Governor and Nigerian Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi, during a high-level dialogue on Africa’s development and diaspora engagement.

Addressing the audience, Amb. Foryoh emphasized the critical role of the African diaspora in driving sustainable development, strengthening governance, and building strategic partnerships across the continent. He noted that Africans living abroad possess valuable knowledge, skills, and global networks that can significantly contribute to Africa’s progress.

In his remarks, Foryoh called on young African politicians and professionals in the diaspora to actively return home and contribute to nation-building. He stressed that the future of Africa depends on visionary leadership, youth participation, and stronger collaboration between the continent and its global diaspora.

“The African diaspora is one of our greatest assets. We must move beyond remittances and become active partners in shaping Africa’s future. This is the time for young leaders to return home, engage in public service, strengthen democratic institutions, and help transform the leadership landscape across our continent,” Foryoh stated.

He further highlighted the need for stronger coordination among diaspora communities, governments, and development partners to create opportunities for innovation, youth empowerment, investment, and sustainable development.

Amb. Foryoh’s participation at the Africa Union House reflects his continued commitment to promoting youth leadership, civic engagement, and meaningful diaspora participation in Africa’s development agenda. His presence alongside prominent African leaders underscores the growing recognition of young diaspora voices in shaping the continent’s future.

The event brought together influential stakeholders from across Africa and the diaspora to discuss practical solutions for strengthening governance, promoting economic growth, and expanding youth participation in leadership and decision-making across the continent.
