MWPA gets Coordination and Facilitation assurance from the Chief Minister
Jacob Jusu Saffa who is the Chief Minister and who also preferred to be called a “Delivery Police,” has on Thursday 22nd July 2021 made familiarization visit to the Ministry of Works and Public Assets (MWPA) where he assured officials that his office will ensure to coordinate, facilitate and follow up on the mandate of the Ministry.
Detailing on the purpose for the visit, CM Saffa noted that the visit is to have a close look at the Ministry’s key deliverables and challenges that would prompt the intervention of the CM’s Office.
Deliberating further, he said the CM’s Office would ensure implementation of the Ministry’s sector policies, strategic plans and annual work programmes that falls within the Medium-Term National Development Plan of the New Direction Administration.
Amongst the responsibilities of the Chief Minister’s Office, Chief Minister Saffa said- is to follow up on Presidential pronouncements, decisions and mandates of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
“My watchword as CM is to facilitate, which is more than supervising. If you fail, then we fail together,” he noted.
Chief Minister Saffa emphasized on inter-ministerial coordination to ensure successful outcome of government activities.
The event was climaxed with presentations from the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Sierra Leone Roads Authority (SLRA), Road Maintenance Funds Administration (RMFA) and the National Assets and Government Properties Commission (NAGPC) – showcasing the relevance of the Ministry in the socio-economic development of the country.
