Judiciary Honours Late Justice Aggrey Albert Aruna
The Judiciary of Sierra Leone has held a solemn tribute session in honour of the late Honourable Justice Aggrey Albert Aruna (J) who passed away on Monday, 11th September, 2023 at the MedStar Washington Hospital Center in Washington D.C, in the United States of America.
Justice Aruna was born in Bo Town on the 21st May 1967 to the Late Pa. A.G. Pius Aruna and Mama Regina Ndaloma.
Delivering tribute on behalf of the Bench, Honourable Justice Michael P. Mami (JA) described the late man as a very resourceful, respectful and soft spoken with a huge sense of humour.
Speaking for and on behalf of the Law Officers’ Department, the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Mohamed Lamin Tawaralley said late Justice Aruna was a “dear class mate” whose life serves as an enduring example of one determined to achieve his dreams. He described him as a smart, good, compassionate and simple with a complex ability, which made him an accomplished Judge.
The Attorney General and Minister of Justice said the legal world has lost a “brilliant mind.”
Representing the Sierra Leone Bar Association, Lawyer Mohamed Sheriff said the late Justice Aruna was full of fun and respect for colleagues at the Bar, adding that he revered the Bench even before being appointed a Judge.
He referred to him as a brilliant, generous, unassuming and a constant motivator and inspiration to many. Hon. Justice Aruna is remembered in the Judiciary as an esteemed colleague whose brilliance, humility and dedication to the legal service would be sorely missed.
The Bench, with Judges of the Superior Court of Judicature, the Management and Staff of the Judiciary and members of the bereaved family observed a minute of silence in honour of the memory and dedicated service of the late Justice Aruna.
