Emmanuel Jossie Kabba, a thirty-seven-year-old motor mechanic, found himself behind bars as he faced charges of larceny and fraudulent conversion before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Pademba Road Court No. 2 in Freetown.

The charges stem from incidents that allegedly occurred between February 1st and 28th, 2023, at Pyke Street, Brookfields, in the Western area of Freetown. Kabba stands accused of stealing four Nissan vehicle tires, valued at two thousand Leones, along with two thousand Leones in vehicle valves and a battery worth seven hundred Leones, amounting to a total value of two thousand seven hundred Leones (Le2,700), property of Issa Conteh.

Additionally, Kabba faces charges of fraudulent conversion related to cash entrusted to him by Conteh for specific purposes. He is accused of converting six thousand Leones intended for the purchase of a Nissan vehicle engine, as well as two thousand Leones designated for the acquisition of two Nissan vehicle headlights. Furthermore, Kabba allegedly converted one thousand five hundred Leones earmarked for Nissan vehicle accessories.

During the court proceedings, the charges were read and explained to Kabba, who did not enter a plea. The prosecutor, Sergeant 9155 Dwight Macarthy, requested a brief adjournment to confer with witnesses.

Kabba appeared in court without legal representation, and despite his plea for bail, Magistrate Bangura denied his request, ordering his detention at the male correctional facility in Freetown.

The case has been adjourned to April 3rd, 2024, for further proceedings.
