Justice Alfred T. Ganda of the High Court on Siaka Stevens Street, Freetown, has reserved his ruling on the bail application for Abdul Kpaka, who faces trial for the alleged murder of his girlfriend, Sia Fatu Kamara.

During proceedings on Friday, the defense urged the court to issue a decision on a bail application first submitted four months ago, highlighting delays in the high-profile case. Justice Ganda informed the court that he would deliver “a ruling in due course” regarding the defendant’s request for release from custody.

The hearing was further delayed by a request from Lead State Prosecutor Yusuf Isaac Sesay for more time, citing the “unavailability of his next witness.” This marks another procedural setback in a trial already plagued by repeated adjournments. Previously, defense counsel Emmanuel Teddy Koroma Esq. applied to dismiss the case due to the prosecution’s repeated failures to appear or present witnesses.

Abdul Kpaka faces a two-count indictment for murder and perverting the course of justice, connected to the death of Sia Fatu Kamara in August 2024. He has remained on remand since his arrest, with earlier bail applications denied due to the seriousness of the charges.

The case has drawn intense public attention, fueled by testimony from the victim’s family and allegations of domestic abuse that emerged during the trial. The defense maintains that Kpaka is presumed innocent until proven guilty and has pressed for bail given his extended time in custody. The matter has now been adjourned to Wednesday, November 12, 2025, for a ruling.
