The leading telecommunications company in Sierra Leone, Africell, has on Thursday November 10th 2022 unveiled a brand new machine that will be cleaning the Lumley beach on a daily at the Lumley beach called “Kip Am Klin” on a daily basis. The Company also organized a motorized cleaning exercise.
The provision of the machine is part of their corporate social responsibility that seeks to complement government effort in cleaning the beach.
Speaking at the unveiling ceremony, the Chief Corporate Affairs Officer of Africell, Joe Abass Bangura, said, ‘one of the best resources in Sierra Leone is our coastline with lots of beautiful beaches’. He said government and people can make a lot of money out of them, which journey they have started. Mr Bangura said human activity including the throwing of garbage has seriously affected the cleaning of the beaches.
He encouraged Sierra Leoneans to keep the beaches clean and make valuable, thereby adding value to them. Mr Bangura said a lot of organisations including the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs among others are involved in the cleaning of the beaches. He emphasized that some countries are yearning to have beaches like ours, stressing that Africell has been working with other organisations, including Propel Eco-Vision Sierra Leone and Save the Beach to clean the beaches. As a company, we are there to render our help to the various organisations as we had been doing in the area of sports, education and health among others to keep the beaches cleaned.
