Magistrate Jah Remands 8 Youths For Robbery & Murder

Eight youths who identify themselves as Ahmed Junior Sesay, Nicoleus Ibrahim Junior Barrie, Alhaji Kamara, Musa Kamara, Mohamed Bangura, Abdul Kamara, Michael Rogers and Michael Menjor Sesay on Wednesday 25 February 2026, were sent to prison by Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah of Pademba Road Court No. 1 for killing of one Anthony Saidu Kargbo.

The defendants made their first appearance in court and were arraigned on seven count charges, ranging from Conspiracy contrary to law, accessory before the fact, Robbery with aggravation contrary to Section 23 (1) (a) of the larceny Act 1916 as repealed and replaced by Section 1 of the schedule of the Abolition of the Death Penalty Act 2021, Act No.6 of 2022, and murder contrary to section 1 of the offences against the person Act 1861 as repealed and replaced by Section 1 (a) of the Schedule of the Abolition of the Death Penalty Act 2021, Act No.6 2022.

The indictment states that the defendants on Monday 12th January 2026 at No. 40 kay Street, Makeni,  Sierra Leone, conspired together to commit a felony, to wit: robbery with aggravation and Murder.

The indictment further states that the defendants, Michael Rogers and Michael Sesay, knowing that Ahmed junior Sesay, Nicoleus Ibrahim junior Barrie, Alhaji Kamara, Musa Kamara, Mohamed Bangura and Abdul Kamara were about to commit the offence of robbery, failed to inform the relevant authorities.

The indictment further states that the defendants on the same day and place at S.S. Lodge Gas Station, Warrah Village, Makeni, were armed with AK-47 rifle and robbed Anthony Saidu Kargbo of the sum of Thirty-Two Thousand, Two Hundred and Seven Leones (Le32,207), and also robbed Kadijaja Koroma one black Samsung Galaxy A25 Android dual SIM mobile phone valued at Six Thousand new Leones (Le6,000) and physical cash of Twenty Thousand new Leones (NLe20,000), and during the course of the alleged robbery, they used personal violence against the said Anthony Saidu Kargbo and Kadijaja Koroma.

The indictment ended that the defendants also murdered Anthony Saidu Kargbo.

When the charges were read and explained to the defendants, no plea was taken because the offences were serious.

After the charges were read the Prosecutor, ASP Tommy B Zizer Esq. applied for an adjournment, indicating that he has not yet served the bundle of files to the defendants to enable them to put up their defense.

Magistrate Jah, in the circumstances, ordered the remand of all the defendants at the Male Correctional facility pending further hearing.

The matter was adjourned to 4th March 2026 for hearing.
