IPCB Investigates Kroo Town Road Shooting
The Independent Police Complaints Board (IPCB) has commenced an investigation into an alleged shooting incident at Kroo Town Road and the Bay Community in Freetown, following reports that three unidentified persons were killed and several others injured.
The incident has attracted public attention after information about the alleged shooting began circulating on social media on 13 September 2026. The circumstances surrounding the reported deaths and injuries remain unclear, prompting the independent police oversight body to formally investigate the matter.
In a press release dated 15 September 2026, the IPCB said the investigation is being conducted pursuant to the Independent Police Complaints Board Regulations, 2013. The Board explained that its mandate includes investigating incidents involving the discharge of firearms or the killing of persons by police officers, as well as cases involving injuries, assaults or wounding allegedly caused by police personnel.
