Over unauthorized aircraft landing: 4 In Police net

The Sierra Leone Civil Aviation Authority has said on Friday said  that the country’s  state security forces have impounded a private aircraft which landed into Sierra Leone air space without an approved landing permit adding that all four onboard are in police custody  with investigation ongoing.

’’At 11: 54 pm on the 19th September, 2024, a private non-scheduled aircraft landed at the Freetown International Airport without an approval permit,’’ the country’s civil aviation Authority said on Friday.

According to the release, the Director General of the Sierra Leone Civil Aviation Authority and the SLCAA inspectors from the directorate of flight safety standards and Aviation security were on site to assist in the initial interrogation of all onboard the said aircraft.

It however added that, investigations are still ongoing adding that the public will be updated on the outcome.

‘’ The Sierra Leone Civil Aviation Authority wishes to assure the public of its commitment to the safety and security of Civil Aviation in Sierra Leone,’’ the release ended.
