Four accused persons, including a military officer, have once again been remanded in custody after making their second court appearance before Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah at Pademba Road Court No. 1 in Freetown, over the alleged theft of a low-bed trailer belonging to the Freetown City Council (FCC).

The accused — Mohamed Allieu Jalloh, an IT technician; Alie Kamara and Musa Turay, both businessmen; and Sorie Sesay, a military officer — were denied bail and ordered to be held at the male correctional facility pending further proceedings.

They are facing three counts of conspiracy, larceny, and receiving stolen property, contrary to Section 2 and Section 33 (1)(b) of the Larceny Act of 1916.

According to the prosecution, between 11th July and 16th September 2025, at Queen Elizabeth Road, Kissy Dockyard in the Western Area, the accused persons allegedly conspired with other individuals (still at large) to commit a felony, specifically larceny.

The court further held that during the same period and at the same location, the accused allegedly stole a low-bed trailer with registration number AVT 807, valued at US$105,000 (approximately Le2,418,044), property of the Freetown City Council.

In a related development, the prosecution alleged that a fifth accused, Ernest Allieu, dishonestly received the said trailer knowing it to have been stolen.

When the charges were read and explained in court, no plea was taken from the accused persons.

Defence Counsel S. M. Fomba Esq., alongside C. M. B. Amara Esq., C. Kamara Esq., and M. Bangura Esq., renewed their applications for bail, assuring the court that the accused would not interfere with witnesses and would make themselves available for trial.

However, in his ruling, Magistrate Jah maintained that the charges are serious in nature and noted that the court must first hear evidence from a key prosecution witness before making a determination on bail.

He emphasized that the matter remains under the jurisdiction of the court and that due process must be followed.

Consequently, all accused persons were remanded in custody, and the matter was adjourned to 23rd March 2026 for further hearing.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Joan Bull is prosecuting the case on behalf of the State.
