NLe 819,910 Unaccounted For At Local Govt Ministry

The Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs is facing scrutiny after items valued at NLe 819,910, acquired and utilized during the review period, were not recorded in the stores ledger, according to the Auditor General’s 2024 report.
Auditors further noted that supporting documents — including requisition forms, store issue vouchers, and distribution lists — were not submitted for inspection, making it impossible to verify the use or distribution of the assets.
The report also highlighted that the ministry failed to provide any management response, leaving the issue unresolved. Auditors warned that this lapse raises serious concerns about transparency, accountability, and the risk of misappropriation of public resources.
The Auditor General urged the ministry to implement proper record-keeping, submit all supporting documentation, and respond to audit queries to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
